PINEWOOD DERBY PROCEDURE

  1. Each Scout brings his car to the inspection table to have it inspected, weighed and numbered on the appointed date and time. Cars failing inspection or weigh-in can be altered on-site to conform to the Rules, then be re-inspected and re-weighed.
  2. After registration and inspection, cars will be “quarantined” until all races are complete.
  3. As each heat is announced, Scouts will sit at the finish line to watch their own car race.
  4. Judges at the finish line will determine results of the race. The car whose nose is first over the finish line is the winner. If an electronic finish line is used, judges will provide finish line results only in the event of an electronic finish line equipment failure.
  5. There will be no photo finishes.  The order of finish determined by the race judges or electronic timer will be final.
  6. If a car leaves the track, runs out of its lane, or loses an axle or other part, it will be scored in last place for that race, and may be repaired to run in any race remaining for that car.  If the car in the example above interferes with another car prior to or during one of the events listed above, the race will be re-run.
  7. Race brackets and scoring methodology will be determined at a later date.
